"Zero" Listing Fees and Escrow Service to keep the scammers away!!!"

People are always heading to the swap meets so we thought visitors would like to participate in a virtual swap meet on Biker Cove. The past couple of weeks we've been building and testing the site, and officially launched the service on July 30th. It's turned out to be a pretty neat piece of programming.

People can register on the site for free. When you sign up, you will get a verification email with a link to click. Once logged in, you can list items for sale, swap, or list an item you're looking for in the "Wish List".  Barter with the seller on items you like.

Listing items is simple and it's best to have a picture of what you want to list. The site is set up to accept credit cards through Paypal, although the buyer does not need to have a Paypal account to purchase.

One of the main things we thought about was to keep everyone honest. When someone purchases an item, they will pay with their credit card (Unless other arrangements are made with the seller) and the money will go into an escrow account.

The seller will be notified the item has been purchased and will handle shipping/delivery. Once the item is delivered, the funds are released to the seller from the escrow account. It's that easy. A tracking number from the shipping company is also sufficient for proof of shipment.

There will be administrative expenses. Any time you accept credit cards, you have to pay a small fee for using their service. In the case of sellers who do not have a Paypal account, we'll have to write and mail checks, manage the fund, and pay website related costs. Because of this we have to charge a small fee which is very low. Much lower than any other auction site.

For example: If an item is sold for $50.00, the cost to the seller is only $3.95. Sound fair? Biker Cove charges the 2.9% + .30 to the credit card company, and an additional 5% to cover and manage the administrative end. This is much lower than anyone else. Unless you go to a completely free site. You get what you pay for. With us and the credit card system, sellers get their money and buyer get their product. We set this up to keep the scammers away.
