Bike Night at the Urban Cowboy!
We received a call from Duke from the band "Local Traffic" asking us to come up and check out the bike night held at the Urban Cowboy in Ocala, Florida. Knowing they open for some pretty good places, we decided to check it out.
They're located at 1227 SW 17th Ave and the place was so big, we almost missed it thinking it was a huge warehouse. Inside of the building is a huge country and western bar that can hold hundreds. In the back of the building is a huge covered area with a 50 foot bar and a stage. The place had plenty of tables, was chain linked and security was provided at the gates. It's almost as big as a football field. The bike parking area was at least twice the size. We were pretty impressed with the size and how new and clean the place looked.
At least a couple hundred people attended and enjoyed the music provided by Local Traffic, one of the better Southern Rock bands in the area. When the band was on break a DJ was provided to ensure everyone stayed entertained.
One of the things we liked was how the security worked. Even though the bike parking area was well lit, the gates were closed at sunset. When leaving, bikes would ride into the pavilion area through one gate, and out the other entering the front parking lot. That was pretty cool.
The bikini bike wash was going on in the biker parking area. The girls were friendly and were doing a great job on the bikes. People were lined up waiting for their services.
Roosevelt's Bar-B-Q was on hand providing some great food at a great price. Roosevelt's created the plate called, "The Pile" which is tough to finish. He told us it was his second week there and he planned to continue coming.
While interviewing Angie, the Entertainment Coordinator, she let us know that good bands will be rotated through and their bike night will be held every Wednesday, starting at 7:00 p.m. She was great to deal with and kept herself available for all the guests. We look forward to doing business with her in the future.
If you happen to be in Ocala on a Wednesday evening, this would be a great stop. If you get off I-75, head east on 200, just past the Target, turn right and it will be on the left. See you there!
