Elvis Spotted in the Lake Pan Tiki Hut!
We were cruising through Lake Panasoffkee, Florida last Saturday evening and as we passed the Sunoco station/Food Mart in the middle of town on 470, we could of sworn we saw Elvis performing in the Tiki Hut off to the side. There were a bunch of people there so we turned around to see what was going on.
Many are aware of the gas station tiki hut that was formerly owned by Lorenzo, along with some of the problems that went with it. The business has been sold, changed to a Sunoco, and the tiki bar on the side is still going. We met with Alex, the new owner. He seemed to be a real nice guy with a neighborly attitude. He wants everyone to know that he has no plans of "Rocking" the neighborhood as has been done in the past. He's respectful of his local friends and business is building for him. He is respectful of his neighbors as well as his patrons.
The tiki bar will be open Friday and Saturday evenings with live entertainment and although it wasn't really Elvis we saw but Kenn Grube, an Elvis impersonator. There was a good crowd there for the performance and Kenn plays in a lot of high speed places like the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando. Not personally being an Elvis fan myself, I did enjoy his show and would be glad to see him again. You can reach him at his website, click here. If you need an Elvis, he's your man.
Alex went on to explain that he has competitive gas prices, a clean convenience store with a large selection of items, good beer & wine prices, and they have a deli for freshly made sandwiches and pizza. There's plenty of room inside and out to sit and eat your meal right there with some good conversation.
When speaking with Alex, he knows the Lake Pan Tiki Hut was once frequented by bikers and he hopes they'll be back. He's considering starting a bike night, possibly every other week. Ice, the store manager also wanted to get the word out to the riders in the area. "We're biker friendly and we're not interested in any of the riff raff. We want everyone to be able to come, have a good time, and want to come back. We hope the bikers will return and take a look at what we're doing", he explained.
We're going to make this an "On the way home" stop at least one of the weekend nights. It was a good time and we were able to relax. If you would like to visit the Lake Pan Tiki Hut or need a gas stop or something good to eat, click here for their exact location. You'll find friendly staff and a friendly atmosphere.
